A different way to meet winter in Trondheim
Winter changes the sound and rhythm of the city. The light becomes softer and the colourful warehouses reflect in the dark water. Some days are calm and glassy; others bring wind, snow or crisp sea air. From your seat close to the surface, Trondheim feels both intimate and wonderfully real.
Your local guide shares stories from the river, the canal and the people who shaped the city. The boat itself is part of the story: a traditional clinker-built wooden vessel connected to a Nordic boatbuilding tradition stretching back more than a thousand years.
Embrace the elements — the Nordic way.
We do not promise still water, blue skies or postcard weather. We promise an authentic winter experience. Like the seafarers who travelled these waters before us, we meet the season with warm layers, good preparation and respect for nature. We sail in normal winter conditions whenever the skipper considers it safe.
See the historic warehouses, bridges and waterfront from a perspective few visitors experience.
With a maximum of 12 guests, there is room for conversation, questions and unhurried storytelling.
Sheepskins and blankets make the open-boat experience cosy, but warm winter clothing is essential.
You are not viewing the boat in a museum. You are helping keep a traditional craft in active use.
