The experience

When the day slows down, the fjord opens up

Summer evenings in Trondheim are made for staying outside. We leave Ravnkloa aboard a traditional clinker-built wooden boat and follow the harbour toward wider water, with the city skyline, Munkholmen and the coastal landscape around us.

There is no race to a viewpoint. The pleasure lies in the changing light, the wooden boat moving gently through the water and the perspective that only the fjord can give. Your skipper shares local stories while leaving space for the evening to speak for itself.

Nature sets the scene

Every evening has its own light.

A clear sunset cannot be guaranteed. Some nights glow gold; others arrive with silver cloud, sea mist or lively weather. The voyage is designed around the whole evening on the fjord—not a single promised photograph.

Questions & answers

Good to know

Will we definitely see the sunset?

No. Cloud, mist and changing weather affect the light. The experience is the full evening voyage on Trondheim Fjord; a visible sunset is nature's bonus.

Why does the departure time change?

Sunset shifts quickly this far north. Departure times are adapted through the season so guests can experience the best available evening light.

Are the boats covered or heated?

No. These are traditional open wooden boats. We provide sheepskins and blankets, while guests should bring warm and windproof clothing.

What happens if the weather changes?

The skipper may adapt the route to find shelter and comfortable conditions. If the trip cannot operate safely, we will offer another time or a refund.

Is this suitable for families?

Yes. Families are welcome, and children receive appropriately sized life jackets. Remember that evenings on the water can feel cooler than the city streets.

Can we book the whole boat?

Yes. Private sunset cruises can be arranged for up to 12 guests per boat, subject to boat, skipper and weather availability.
