Our story

Trondheim,at human pace.

We bring guests closer to the city through its old water roads, forest paths and living stories—always in small groups, with local people and enough time to truly arrive.

One local company · Two ways to explore

On water.
On foot.

Trondheim by Boat and Trondheim by Foot grew from a simple belief: visitors understand a place better when they are given time, local company and a genuine connection to how people live there.

On the water, our traditional clinker-built wooden boats carry guests through the canal, along the Nidelva and onto Trondheim Fjord. On land, our guides share the city's history, Bymarka's outdoor culture and the old pilgrimage routes towards Nidaros.

The experiences may look different, but the method is the same. Small groups. Honest stories. Thoughtful hosting. No rushing, no crowds.

We do not place heritage behind glass. We sail it, walk it and share it.

Four connected traditions

A city shaped by movement.

Trondheim was built beside water and grew around routes of trade, faith and everyday work. Our experiences follow those connections rather than separating the city into isolated attractions.

What guides our work

Values you can experience.

01 · Take it slow

Time creates connection.

We keep groups small and itineraries human. Guests should have time to ask, notice and take part—not simply pass through.

02 · Keep it living

Tradition needs work.

Boats, routes and knowledge survive when they remain useful. We maintain them, employ people around them and invite new generations in.

03 · Belong locally

Tourism should give back.

We collaborate with local guides, mushers, food providers and partners while creating work and opportunities in our own community.

The people behind the experience

Local knowledge,
shared personally.

Our team brings together guides, skippers, an apprentice and local partners. Different skills, one shared responsibility: make every guest feel safely included in the place and its stories.

Guides who tell human stories

Our guides connect the large historical events with daily life, humour and the people who shaped Trondheim.

Skippers who know each boat

Traditional boats respond differently. Local judgement and familiarity with the vessel shape every safe departure.

Partners rooted in place

Experiences such as dogsledding grow from real family knowledge and established relationships—not imported concepts.
