PASSENGER CAPACITY
How many passengers can there be on board?
All our boats have a capacity of up to 12 passengers + crew each. For larger groups, we are excited to conquer the seas with several boats sailing together at the same time! We are happy to make arrangements for groups of up to 48 people.
PRIVATE TOURS ONLY
Do you have any public tours I can sign up for?
As per today we only offer exclusive private tours for small or midsized groups of 1-48 participants, where we sail with up to 12 passengers/boat. Here you will have the boat/s exclusively to yourselves and may enjoy a cozy, authentic and personal experience.
We currently do not have any public tours and it is not possible to tag along another groups tour. We do however, encourage you to gather fellow travelers, family, friends and colleagues and fill the boat with up to 12 participants for the same price.

HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY
What is your health & safety policy?
We follow all applying laws as enacted by the Norwegian Maritime authorities (Sjøfartsdirektoratet). Safety equipment, digital safety management systems and life vests are available onboard in all sizes and all our skippers & guides have received the necessary safety training.
MARITIME SAFETY
We wish to make our tours as inclusive as possible because we sincerely believe that everyone deserves to experience the beautiful nature of the fjord and share the joy of boating together! Given that our 12-passenger boats have their structural limitations (they do not have a wheelchair ramp or lift), we try to ensure your accommodation through building a team of compassionate and solution-oriented skippers and guides who are always happy to help.
Please mind that there are 2 steps to climb when boarding our boats. After this you may find a comfortable seat from which you can enjoy Trondheim without having to walk much. In the boarding process the skipper/guide may assist you (we have Viking muscle power, patience and joy to share) and any equipment (e.g. lightweight travel wheelchair, walking cane etc.) can be stored for you onboard nearby. If you have a support pet that you feel comfortable with taking on board a boat, do feel free to bring it along :) Please note: We do not have life vests for animals and cannot take responsibility for non-human passengers.
Gladly get in touch and let us know what we can do to accommodate you (if possible, a little in advance so that we have time to find a good solution) - and we will try our very best - everyone welcome aboard!
SPECIAL NEEDS GUESTS
All children under the age of 16 years are required to wear a life jacket at all times for their safety. Should you be bringing more than 2 children under the age of 10 to the tour or perhaps be booking on behalf of a kindergarden / school please let us know so that we may adjust our safety procedures and life vest sizes accordingly to accommodate you as best possible. We have specialized life vests for babies from 5kg and upwards on board.
CHILDREN
If you or any of the participants in the tour you are booking have any allergies that are relevant for us to know (especially if you are booking a combined boat tour + culinary experience), please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make adjustments and inform any restaurant partners involved. Notifications can be sent to: info@trondheimbyboat.com
ALLERGIES OR DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
In Covid-19 times we aim to prevent any transmission as best possible. Our measures include the use of antibacterial gel for washing hands before and during the tours, as well as the disinfection of surfaces and equipment between each tour.
All our tours in Covid-19 times are private tours so that you have an overview over all participants and you have the whole boat to yourselves. Should you feel unwell we kindly ask you to stay home and refer to the Norwegian health authorities for advice on how to proceed.
Should you feel unwell during a tour for any reason at all, please let your skipper/guide know so that he/she may assist you.

RECOMMENDATIONS
We always recommend having travel insurance.
WEATHER
We sail all year round as long as the weather conditions are safe. We always recommend dressing according to the given weather conditions as this is an outdoor experience in open traditional boats. However, we also have delicious hot beverages, cozy blankets and rain ponchos onboard should the need arise.
In case of extreme weather conditions we reserve the captains right to postpone/cancel the tour - your safety and comfort is always our first priority!
P.S.: We gladly offer the possibility to reschedule your boat tour (or the boat tour part of a combined experience) up to 2 days ahead of departure (given availability at the new time of choice). Thus you can follow the forecast in advance on yr.no.
What about the weather?
Some notes about weather
We would like to ensure you that regardless of the weather it’ll be a special experience, and the forecast may not necessarily be what will meet us out there…
The Trondheimsfjord is full of surprises - we once headed out for our sunset tour under a grey sky with pouring rain… and just before the sun set we were bathed in the most spectacular sky full of mesmerizing red color nuances. And believe it or not, a few years ago it snowed in May! Luckily we had brought our cozy woolen blankets so everyone stayed warm and comfortable.
Sunscreen and sunglasses are very much recommended most of the year and in summer we tend to head out in a t-shirt, happy for a fresh breeze to cool us down. And sailing through the darkness brings a whole new perspective of the stars and northern lights…
Fishing is usually best on rainy mornings, and there is nothing quite like gliding through calm, misty waters a little before noon on a sunny day in January.
